Mankatha - Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar's 50th Tamil film. The movie has been written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, the director of the hit movies Chennai 600028, Saroja and Goa.

The movie is all about the gambling by a mafia gang during an IPL (Indian Premier League) season. Movie started since October2010 and all its shoots are completed. Re-recording for the movie is in progress and expected to be completed by August2011. As it holds a big tag that 50th movie of Thala Ajith, it'd already created a huge hype among thala fans and of course across Tamil Nadu. 

An interesting fact about the title Mankatha - the movie title was initially spelled as "Mangaatha" but after Venkat Prabhu's consultation with a leading numerologist it was decided to change the spelling to Mankatha as it adds up to his lucky number.
